Via Egnatia

Together with Sandra King-Savic, the University of St. Gallen and the Landis & Gyr Foundation, we created Voices of the Via Egnatia – a soundscape performance that will tour different cities.

The Via Egnatia is one of the most important ancient travel and trade routes from Rome to Constantinople. Our outreach campaign provides a non-academic audience with access to empirical findings on migration patterns.

Music and lyrics are interwoven with sounds, folk songs, composed works and fragments of conversation. The material was collected during a research trip in the Balkans. The project contributed to illustrate the driving forces behind migratory movements beyond political and economic aspects.
